Alternative Education Program
Project SCALE
Guidelines:
A student is pregnant or returning to school after childbirth and would benefit from an alternative school schedule.
A fifth year senior.
Students lacking credits due to previous poor attendance, extended illness or familial issues
Students placed on form 16A and considered personna non-gratta at the home
school.
A student currently on expulsion for a non-violent or non-drug (as in selling drugs) related offense.
Behavior that is making student unsuccessful:
Parent/Teacher Conference:
Discussion w/Administration and or attendance Officer:
Schedule and attend an intake conference with Alternative Education Coordinator.
Have a Referral/Individual Service Plan in place or written by Alternative Education Coordinator or High School Counselor.
Upon review of student data the student will be placed in either a ½ day or full day program.
Student must abide by an attendance contract written at the intake conference.
The maximum number of alternative students is limited to 15-18 per session according to State regulations and terms of the Alternative Education Grant funding this program.
If a student is withdrawn from the Alternative Education program for non-compliance, they will be referred to the Adult Basic Education program.

Program Expectations
Attendance is required , however after consultation with Alternative Education Coordinator a flexible schedule may be considered. Student must call Alternative Education Coordinator when absent. Contact Mr. Rosa @

Students must complete 15 hours of community service per grading period.
Students will be placed in CTE program if they have met requirements.
Individual Service Plans will be reviewed on a semester basis.
The ultimate goal is to return the student to the regular school environment
once on track and/or graduation.
